Steim residency for off<>zz with Juan Romera

From November 11th-15th, Off<>zz and Juan Romero will be artist in residency at STEIM, working on their project The laptop as a chamber music instrument - Live Coding approach.

With Juan and Off<>zz' different experience in chamber music livecoding: laptop ensemble and laptop + acoustic musician respectively, throughout the residency we will exchange ideas, knowledge, musical instincts and approaches to create our half composed and half improvised (comprovised) music works. We will address some of the key problems in this setting, namely: the difference in speed of musical response (coding being significantly slower than acoustic musician), interacting with limited physical gesture (both between ourselves and the audience) and mixing sound worlds.
